Default All the complaining.....

I don't understand why so much complaining about the game is going on right now with the recent changes. a few points i would like to make and not even going to make this long.

1. maps are small and straight foreward with little room to explore. its ok just relax and enjoy the trip. anet is hearing all of this. keep in mind this is only the first chapter there is only room for growth from here.

2. economy will balance itself and work as it is suppose to. if you are not good at market changes and stocks then you probly won't be good at making money in this game. that's ok you don't need that much money to be get great stuff.

3. this is only the first chapter!! i think this is the most important point. it can only go up from here. this is an entire new strategy for a game like this that has never been done. anet is going into unexplored areas in the business. so just sit back play the game and enjoy the ride.

4. if you don't like the game or simply bored, then quit. its a free game that you can come back to and know your stuff hasn't been deleted because of inactivity.

overall i just wish i saw more positive things said about the game instead of always focusing on the negative. i'd like to hear some positive response but any trolling or flames i'll just skip over and keep reading.

People who would want to sit around and talk about how much they love Guild Wars and the community typically aren't drawn to post in forums as they are probably busy playing the game. Like it or not, "General" forums such as The Riverside Inn is never going to be short on complaint threads and people generally venting.

Most constructive threads are going to be in their other, respective forums.

And often, complaint threads can lead to something constructive. If the post is logically and coherently put, why not give it a chance? Don't be a hater

Oh, and, since discussion involves two opposing viewpoints, the nature of this very forum is complaint. If it were a question, it'd go in the Forest of True Sight forum. If it were a suggestion, it would go in the Sardelac Sanitarium forum

I think of this game so far like a Pilot to a TV show. Pilots are always changed and revamped. Many great TV shows had horrible pilot episodes. This Pilot is pretty darn good so far. After some tweaks it will become a Classic Game to play.

The developers have a Tiger by the Tail but, at least they have there hands on it. This game will get better and better. I have a knack for knowing such things.

I say all this because I can get real bored with a game real quick. This game just grows on me. I keep learning newer stategies to use for my character.

I also can not complain to much...because...I can not do any better myself.

There is an old saying: Put up or Shut up!

That "I'd like to see you do better" attitude only really applies to a situation were someone is ingrateful for a service they are getting at no cost.

The thing is, though, this isn't something that ArenaNet did for us free of charge, this is a customer/business relationship. Since ArenaNet doesn't have an official forum these fansite forums are as close as we're going to get to having a place to air our grievances in front of peers outside the game.

In fact, under Contact: Suggestions, we are linked to the fansite forums.

General forums is pretty much the place for threads that are less straight suggestions and instead discuss whether such and such is bad for the game or whether this or that is good for the community. There's nothing wrong with some of the threads to be full of hot air, whether they praise or curse Anet, it's natural for people to want to express themselves.

At least, that's how I feel how general forums should be and why "negative" threads should be endured.

Complaining is responsible for many of the better changes in this game, faction, and the return of xp for PvP battles to name a few. If people hadn't complained like hell in every thread, these things never would have been implemented/reimplemented. I'm glad people complain honestly, many of the threads have good points to them. And if you don't want to read all the complaining, don't click on the thread. Most all of them you can tell what they are by the thread title.

The 5 posts below this:

Remove the low prices!!

OMG prices are sane but runes are sold out and what's more I can't sell back the 50 I bought!

Top ten issues with Guild Wars - I know what they are even though I just got to Yak's Bend

How to grind

The UW only gives me 20k per run :-((((

Wrong. PvP needs huge gaping balance holes fixed. And faction rewards need to be increased by 37x.

I think much of the problem is that many don't seem to know how to offer constructive criticism.
Instead of labelling the thread "Please improve the economy by rolling back the patch" and stating that they'd like the patch rolled back because they now don't do as much money farming, they label the thread something along the lines of "THIS GAME IS SHITE!!!" and spend 50 lines screaming that anet are nerf-happy retards.

Of course there's things which could be improved (although rolling back the economy patch isn't one of them). Of course players should feel free to offer constructive suggestions.
And we do see a lot of constructive suggestions too. Just not as many as the rants.

if this was the show they wouldn't stream us updates every other week or so.

i understand that complaining is apart of the game and yes GW does have its flaws. we all know that and we all know which ones they are. making 10 different post on the same subject with about 2-3 pages and only about 10 replies are accually good.

it just feels like the quality of the post here are so low. this isn't speaking for eveyone some post are really good and thought out. then 10 minutes later i see it deleted.

I think people should realise one thing about all forums for GW (and in general). Everyone here is not over 18 or a master of communication or leader of the debate society and making such immaculate posts it not easy for everyone.

There are some younger players here and there are some older players too who just aren't as proficient in their use of language to get their points across. Also everyone doesn't have strong PR skills. We need to extend some lee way for this reason.

When you try and return something that doesn't work at a store because it doesn't work and has caused you inconvenience you're likely to have a tone of dissatisfaction in your voice. If the returns person in the store is not listening to you, you might get annoyed.

As a community we should realise that instead of thinking about a them and us (being ANET and us), we should be understanding of each other within the community even when people are upset.

And, speaking purely as a moderator here, I only delete posts that are inflammatory or so poorly worded as to be ridiculous. Trust me, if I deleted all the posts that bugged me or that I disagreed with, there wouldn't be many on this forum. I can't speak for the other mods but I'm sure they feel much the same.

This is a tough job because there is always somebody who is offended when a thread or post is deleted. Just as threads span all sides of an argument, so do the posters and there's always somebody who gets their knickers in a knot over a deletion.

Still, it's not a thankless job. I get wonderfully nice PMs from people on occasion and they are so appreciated....in fact, so much so, that I've created a special folder to save them in for reading on one of those days when I get 15 "I hate you" PMs.

One of the goals of GWGuru is for all sides of any issue to be encouraged. This is neither a hardcore PvP site nor is it a hardcore PvE site. It is neither an "anti-ANet" site nor is it a "carebear" site that always champions the devs. As mods, we really do try to make sure that all voices are heard....as long as they do not cross the line and violate forum guidelines.

Anyhow...back to topic.

If that were the case for the other mods, I'm pretty sure most, if not all of your posts would be gone within 5 minutes of them being posted.

Oh BURRRRRN!

So long as none of my ever-brilliant posts are deleted I'll be alright me thinks. Maybe if I could...sway the moderators a little bit...I could guarantee my invincibility!

Nope...

Wait a second...Was that a Shot/Dig/Flame at Aniewiel?

That is how I saw that. If that is the case, that was just pure mean and uncalled for. I do not agree with all Moderators on any forum. However, I would not go off and just be nasty about it. Aniewiel in my opinion has always been more then fair when dealing with people here. For the most part Aniewiel at least explains what/how/why a post is being deleted or a thread is being closed.

You have some gripe? I would strongly suggest PMing the Mod in question. No use feeding one's Ego on the back of another person. That is weak.

For the record: I do not know Aniewiel personally. I only "know" from what I have seen what this person Aniewiel has written.

Like I said, Aniewiel has been more then fair when dealing with people here!

Yeah, I definately looked at Shin's post as some form of insult to Aniewiel. Which is absurd because she's like the greatest most sweetest awesomest mod around. Whenever I'm tired of a thread I always think "Boy I hope Aniewiel's around to lock this soon!" Within 5 minutes---BAM locked. I love it when things work out like that. Something else...Shinsei, flame moderator, iQ guild?! No wonder bad rumors about the higher-up guilds get started.

ya i do like how Aniewiel works as a mod.

one thing that i would love to see is a post about the current market changes and updates from other people on what changes.

prices go up and down and will continue to do that with the new system in place. not to mention what's the auction house going to affect since they are working on it and is their primary focus. the summer update is finished otherwise they wouldn't show us screen shots. they are just adding some suggestions from players at the last second.

i think i'll make that post on market changes now...at least we'll have something constructive on the forums
